Top 5 Things Every Bride Should Know!

Ok, I know that this day has been a long time in the  making; and I know that all brides have an idea of what their wedding day should be like, but here are 5 things to keep in mind before and during your wedding day:

5.  Choose and Wear Comfortable Shoes!  Many brides choose shoes based on looks alone and have the idea that they only have to wear them during the wedding and once at the reception the shoes will be a thing of the past.  Here are a couple of things to keep in mind, first if your shoes change your height, that will show in the photos.  Second, unless you are wearing a T-length gown or cocktail gown, your shoes will not show.  Third, this is your wedding day, you should enjoy it without having to worry about your feet hurting.

4.  Wear the Dress Ahead of Time!  Wedding dresses are some of the heaviest garments ever made.  Wear it for at least 2 hours some time before the wedding day, like the Pre-Bridal Shoot.  By wearing your dress ahead of time, you will get to know it, how it hangs and where it is uncomfortable at.  Knowing all of these things will help you to remedy them before the big day!

3.  Makeup and Hair?  Decide who will be doing your do the day of the wedding and your makeup, schedule an appointment and have them done.  Knowing that your hair and makeup are at their best will make you more confident and will give you less to worry about on the Big Day.  Also, you will find out if you are allergic to any of the products, nothing is worse than having an allergic attack the day of the wedding……..

2.  Wait, Whose Day is This?  If you have already started planning, then you might already have “a little bit of advice” from just about every body.  Getting advice is great, but take everything with a grain of salt.  Aunt so and so’s wedding was 20 years ago, and a lot has changed since then.  Remember that this is Your special day, and your soon to be husbands, there will always be a chance to take everyones advice later, after you are married.

1.  Did Everyone See That??!?!?!?!  Each wedding is different!  In this day and age, no one knows what to expect, so don’t worry if something that was planned for the big day does not go off as planned.  I have never been to a wedding where any of the guests are expecting anything but an “I do” and some cake.  Don’t ruin your day with needless worrying, leave that to all of the professionals that you have hired.

Wedding Dress Blues

The Question has been asked, the ring now firmly on your finger along with all of the oohs, ahhhhs and congratulations; but now comes the hard part, the PERFECT DRESS!  Many brides think and dream about their dress for their entire lives, some look through bridal magazines until some thing tickles their fancy.  No matter which bride you are, finding the right dress does not have to be a big hassle.  The first thing that any bride shopping for her dress should do is try on each dress type, A-line, Empire waist, Cocktail, etc……  By trying on each of the types of dress you will find one that is flattering to your body type and proportions, thus narrowing down the selection.  I know what many will say, “I found the dress for me, and I have a picture of it and it will be the bestest dress ever!”  That is great, from that one picture you have narrowed down design, but not really the dress type.  Once you try that dress on it may be a totally different story.  But don’t fret, your wedding dress aspirations should not be dashed, find the dress type that accentuates you and look for the same design aspects.  You may like the dress in the picture, but until it is on you, it is just a picture.  I am not saying that you cannot go by picture alone, many brides find that perfect dress picture, go to the bridal shop and it is the perfect dress for them.  What I am saying is don’t let this picture lock you into something that may not be the best for you.

When trying on dresses make sure to take time to evaluate how the dress really feels, an uncomfortable dress can ruin your wedding day.  Also, talk to the person who is helping you shop, if you don’t like the big bow on the back, ask if it can be removed and how much that will cost.  One of the most interesting ideas that I have come across is looking through bridal magazines and cutting out pictures of dresses, or parts of dresses that you like, once finished review the pictures and try to figure out why you like them.  Is it the bead work on the bottom hem, or the fact that this dress has a bodice, or maybe it is that you like the way it flows in the picture, what ever it is, this will help you to identify what you actually like and not what  you think you like.  Now having said all of this I hope that your search for The Dress will be a little easier.
